Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological death, can begin a new life in a new body. This doctrine is a central tenet of the Hindu religion. It is also a common belief of various ancient and modern religions such as Spiritism, Theosophy, and Eckankar, and is found as well in many tribal societies around the world, in places such as Siberia, West Africa, North America, and Australia. Some otherkin attribute their kintype to reincarnation, and believe they were their kintype in a past life, are going to be their kintype in their next life, were meant to be their kintype in this life and something prevented that from happening, or otherwise connect their kintype to reincarnation. Other otherkin who believe their kintype is connected to reincarnation might believe their kintype is caused by them having an animal soul that reincarnated into a human body, that they were an animal in a past life and their soul did not change from an animal soul into a human soul when they reincarnated, that they have an animal soul now because their next life will be that animal, or they otherwise associate having an animal soul with reincarnation and their kintype.
